An Emcee Model 1150 Staticon® On-line Conductivity Monitoring System has been successfully commissioned at the Neste refinery in Porvoo, near Helsinki, Finland. The system has been installed as part of an upgrade to the refinery's storage and shipping facility for aviation fuel.
Full training on the operation and maintenance of the installation was given by Steve King to members of the refinery process control and maintenance teams.
The Staticon measures the conductivity level of the fuel as it passes into the final storage tanks before leaving the site. The specification limits for Jet A1 according to DEF-STAN 91-91 and ASTM D1655 are 50-600 picosiemens per metre (pS/m). The output from the Staticon is fed to the local control room which uses the information to control the injection of Stadis-450 conductivity additive improver. Because the system is on-line, the conductivity of all of the fuel that is shipped is monitored. This increases the quality control of the product. Considerable cost-savings can also be made on the volume of additive used. |
