An Emcee Model 1150 Staticon On-line Conductivity Monitoring System has been successfully commissioned at the OMV tank farm in Feldkirchen, a suburb of Munich in Germany. The system has been installed as part of an upgrade and expansion of OMV's storage facility for aviation fuel, which feeds the nearby Franz Josef Strauss airport at Munich (Airport Code MUC).

The Staticon measures the conductivity level of the fuel as it leaves the site for the airport. The specification limits for Jet A1 according to ASTM D1655 and DEF STAN 9191 are 50600 picosiemens per metre (pS/m). The output from the Staticon is fed to the local control room which uses the information to control the injection of Stadis-450 conductivity additive improver. Because the system is on-line, the conductivity of all of the fuel that is shipped from the depot is monitored, thus increasing the quality control of the product. Considerable cost-savings can also be made on the volume of additive used.
