On-Line Conductivity System at OMV Schwechat
An Emcee Model 1150 Staticon® On-line Conductivity Monitoring System has been successfully commissioned at the OMV refinery in Schwechat, near Vienna. OMV have been upgrading the storage and shipping facility for aviation jet fuel (Jet A1) which feeds the nearby Vienna airport (Airport Code VIE). The Staticon® is part of this upgrade and measures the conductivity level of the fuel as it passes into the final storage tanks before leaving the site. The specification limits for Jet A1 according to ASTM D1655 and DEF STAN 9191 are 50-600 picosiemens per metre (pS/m). The output from the Staticon is fed to the local control room which uses the information to control the injection of Stadis-450 conductivity additive improver. Because the system is on-line, the conductivity of all of the fuel that is shipped from the depot is monitored. This increases the quality control of the product. Considerable cost-savings can also be made on the volume of additive used.
