Jet Fuel Thermal Oxidation Tester, ASTM D3241

Micro Carbon Residue Tester
Model MCRT 130 ASTM D4530

Jet Fuel Thermal Oxidation Tester
ASTM D3241

The thermal stability of jet fuel is an essential property to ensure proper and safe operation of jet turbine engines.
Producers and users of jet fuel and jet engines have relied on Alcor's JFTOT to measure and verify the thermal stability of jet fuel for over 20 years.

KEY FEATURES

  • Approved by ASTM for D 3241
  • Microprocessor controlled operation and full report print-out (with optional printer).
  • New three point temperature calibration routine improves temperature accuracy.
  • Automatic temperature compensation.
  • Reduced set-up time required -easy access to all test components in front.
    Increased safety.
  • Precise flow rate control.
  • Pumping and pressure control components are isolated from thermally degraded fuel.
  • Easy installation - Electricity is the only connection. No nitrogen, external water supply or drain required.
  • Compatible with alternate test procedures and fuels (diesel, turbine, spark ignition and others).
  • Serial (RS-232) data port.

Micro Carbon Residue Tester Model MCRT 130
ASTM D4530

Carbon residue analysis is performed to measure the tendency of material
to degrade thermally and form coke under high temperature pyrolyzing
conditions. Historically, this property was determined by the Conradson
Carbon method (ASTM D189). Each sample is individually analyzed and
the procedure is generally considered difficult and messy. Approximately 45 minutes of a skilled operator's time is required.

The ALCOR MCRT performs ASTM D4530 which has been determined by ASTM to be equivalent to Conradson Carbon. From 6 to 12 samples (depending on size) can be simultaneously processed in the MCRT automatic oven. This allows
for the possibility of including a carbon residue reference sample in each batch. The samples are weighed in disposable vials and placed in the sealed MCRT oven. A micro-processor controls the nitrogen purged oven through a special time-temperature program to perform the destructive distillation.
