Microseparometer Model 1140 Mk X Microsep, ASTM D3948, D4860, D7224, D7261

The Microseparometer detects the presence of surfactants in mid-distillate fuels, primarily aviation kerosene (jet-fuel) and diesel. These surfactants can degrade filter separator performance.

The test consists of taking a sample of fuel, adding water and generating an emulsion. The emulsion is then passed through a miniature coalescer and is optically tested for correct removal of the water. The result is obtained in approximately 5 minutes.

A kit, called a six-pack (6-pack), is available which provides all of the items necessary to perform six tests.
