Finnish Measurement Systems

Med-Lab Limited are authorised distributors for the Finnish Measurement Systems Limited (FMS) PORLA.

The PORLA is a Fully Automatic Analyser for measuring the Stability and Compatibility of Heavy Fuel and Crude Oils.

  • ASTM Test Method D7112
  • Analyzer performs complete analytical procedure fully automatically
  • High automation level saves operator time and reduces costs
  • Sample preparation time of 5 minutes
  • Detector uses reflected light, sensitive to asphaltene particles
  • No need to filter samples to remove coke particles and other contaminants
  • Capable of analyzing oils with asphaltene content as low as 0.1%
  • Ideally suited to Visbreaking and hydrocracking processes
  • Reports the following values for each analysis performed
    o P-value
    o Solvent equivalent/flocculation ratio, FR5/1
    o Peptisability of asphaltenes, Pa
    o Peptizing power of oil medium, Po
    o FRmax
    o Xmin
    o Correlation coefficient (accuracy of result)
    o Solubility Blend Number, Sbn
    o Insolubility Number, In
  • Plots graph for quick and easy checking of result
  • Determines compatibility parameters according to Exxon Mobil blending model

    o Can be applied to blending of crude oils, marine fuel oils, etc
  • Very quick to clean detector (1 minute)
